Jesus: My dear disciples, the Bible does not explicitly mention modern concepts such as vitamins, supplements, and nutrients. However, it provides principles that guide us in caring for our bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit.
Peter: Master, can you share some of these principles with us?
Jesus: Certainly, Peter. One fundamental principle is found in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20: “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” This teaches us to honor God by maintaining our health.
Andrew: How do we apply this to taking nutrients and supplements, Lord?
Jesus: Andrew, we apply it by using discernment and wisdom in what we consume. Proverbs 4:7 tells us, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” Seek knowledge about what is beneficial for your body, and use what God has provided in nature to support your health.
James (son of Zebedee): Lord, are there specific foods mentioned in the scriptures that can guide us?
Jesus: Yes, James. In Genesis 1:29, it is written: “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” God has provided fruits, vegetables, and herbs for our nourishment. These natural sources contain the nutrients our bodies need.
John: Master, what about the balance in using supplements and nutrients?
Jesus: John, balance is key. Moderation is a principle found in many aspects of life. As Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Use supplements wisely and not in excess. Listen to your body and consult with those knowledgeable in health matters.
Thomas: Lord, I sometimes doubt the need for supplements. How can we be sure they are necessary?
Jesus: Thomas, it is wise to question and seek understanding. In 1 Thessalonians 5:21, it says, “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” Research and understand the benefits of supplements. Seek advice from health professionals and rely on evidence to make informed decisions.
Matthew: Should we also give thanks for the knowledge and resources we have, Master?
Jesus: Indeed, Matthew. Always give thanks. 1 Timothy 4:4-5 reminds us, “For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.” Thank God for the provisions and wisdom He has given us to care for our bodies.
Philip: Master, is it right to trust in both natural supplements and modern medicine?
Jesus: Philip, trust in God’s provision in all forms. Natural supplements and modern medicine can both be blessings when used appropriately. As Ecclesiastes 7:18 advises, “It is good that thou shouldest take hold of this; yea, also from this withdraw not thine hand: for he that feareth God shall come forth of them all.” Use what is available wisely and with gratitude, always seeking God’s guidance in your choices.
Jesus: In summary, my disciples, care for your bodies with wisdom, gratitude, and discernment. Use the natural resources and knowledge God has provided to maintain your health, honoring Him in all that you do.
