What are the major prophecies in the Bible that have been fulfilled?

Jesus: Friends, gather around. Today, we shall explore the tapestry of prophecies within the Scriptures, those that have been fulfilled, revealing the hand of God in history.

John: Master, I recall your birth in Bethlehem, as prophesied by the prophet Micah. He wrote, “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting” (Micah 5:2).

Jesus: Indeed, John. This prophecy, penned centuries before my birth, foretold not only the place of my birth but also my eternal nature.

Matthew: I have also studied the prophecies, Lord. Isaiah spoke of your nature and mission, saying, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14). This was fulfilled in your miraculous birth.

Jesus: Well observed, Matthew. These prophecies, woven through the Old Testament, pointed to my coming, my life, and my purpose.

Peter: Master, what of the prophecy of Daniel about the timing of the Messiah’s coming? In Daniel 9:25-26, it was foretold that from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem, it would be sixty-nine ‘weeks’ until the coming of the ‘anointed one.’

Jesus: Peter, you speak of a profound mystery. The prophecy of Daniel was indeed a divine timetable, leading to my arrival as the Messiah during a specific historical period.

Andrew: There are also the Psalms. David spoke of your suffering, Lord. In Psalm 22, he described a scene strikingly similar to your crucifixion, and in Psalm 16, he spoke of the resurrection, saying, “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.”

Jesus: True, Andrew. The Psalms, while personal cries of David, were also prophetic, pointing to both my suffering and triumph over death.

Thomas: But, Lord, how can we be certain these prophecies were genuinely about you and not mere coincidences?

Jesus: Thomas, faith is key. Yet, the specificity, historical accuracy, and consistency across centuries of writings in the Scriptures point to a divine orchestration, not mere chance. The fulfilled prophecies are signs for those seeking truth, leading them to deeper faith and understanding.

Bartholomew: It’s wondrous, Lord, how the prophecies span across generations, yet converge in you.

Jesus: Indeed, Bartholomew. The tapestry of prophecy is one of the many ways our Heavenly Father has revealed His plan and purpose through the Scriptures. As you study them, let your hearts be enlightened by the fulfillment of these divine promises.
