Is it ever justifiable to tell a lie?

Jesus: Verily, verily, I say unto thee, in the realm of truth, there is a light that guideth one’s path. For as it is written in the scriptures, “Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.” (Proverbs 12:22)

Peter: Master, in our world, there are times when the truth seems to bring more harm than good. What if a lie could prevent suffering or protect someone we love?

Jesus: Peter, remember the words I spoke, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6) In all things, the truth is a reflection of the Father’s will. It may not be easy, but in adhering to truth, we trust in the Father’s greater plan.

Thomas: Lord, but what if the truth leads to great peril? Are we still to hold to it even if it brings danger upon us or our loved ones?

Jesus: Thomas, consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto thee, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. (Matthew 6:28-29) If God so clothe the grass of the field, shall He not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore, in all circumstances, seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Andrew: So, we are to walk in truth always, trusting in the Lord’s provision and protection?

Jesus: Precisely, Andrew. For in truth, there is freedom and peace that surpasses all understanding, and it is in this truth that we find our way to the Father.
