How can we discover God’s role for us?

Jesus: “Discovering God’s role for you begins with seeking Him earnestly in prayer and through His Word. ‘Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.’ (Matthew 7:7). Approach God with a sincere heart, ready to listen and to be guided by His Spirit.”

Peter: “Lord, how do we recognize when God is revealing His role for us?”

Jesus: “Peter, God’s guidance often comes through the peace and conviction in your heart, through opportunities and circumstances He places before you, and through the counsel of wise and godly individuals. Be attentive to these signs, always testing them against the truth of Scripture.”

John: “Master, what if we’re afraid of missing God’s call or choosing the wrong path?”

Jesus: “John, trust in His love and sovereignty. He is capable of redirecting your steps and using all experiences for your growth and My glory. ‘For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.’ (Jeremiah 29:11). Even your missteps can lead you back to the path He has for you.”

Andrew: “Is it possible for God’s role for us to change over time?”

Jesus: “Indeed, Andrew. As you grow and the seasons of your life change, so too might the role He has for you. What remains constant is your calling to love God and love others. Be open to new directions and tasks He may call you to.”

Thomas: “But, Lord, how can we be sure we’re ready for the role God has for us?”

Jesus: “Thomas, it’s not about being ready by your own strength but being willing to rely on Him. He will equip and prepare you for every good work He’s called you to. ‘My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.’ (2 Corinthians 12:9). Trust that He will work through you, even in your doubts and weaknesses.”

Matthew: “Master, how important is community in discovering God’s role for us?”

Jesus: “Matthew, community is vital. Believers can offer perspective, encouragement, and insight that help clarify your understanding of His will. Engage with your faith community, share your journey, and listen to the wisdom of those who also seek to follow His lead.”

Simon the Zealot: “Should we be actively seeking our role, or will it become clear as we live out our faith?”

Jesus: “Simon, it’s a combination of both. Live each day committed to Him, serving where you see need, and seeking His will. As you do, be attentive to the doors He opens and the desires He places in your heart. Your role in My kingdom will become clearer through both action and reflection.”
