Jesus: My beloved, you don’t have to go far to make a difference. Right where you are, in your home, your community, your daily life—there is opportunity. Think of the parable I shared about the mustard seed. “The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof” (Matthew 13:31-32). A small act of kindness, a simple word of truth, or an offering of love may seem insignificant, but it has the potential to grow beyond what you can see.
Andrew: Master, like the boy who brought his loaves and fishes to you, right? What he had seemed so small, yet you multiplied it to feed thousands.
Jesus: Exactly, Andrew. It is not about the size of what you offer but your willingness to give it. Wherever you are, when you act in love—whether by helping a neighbor, praying for someone, or speaking peace where there is discord—you plant seeds of my kingdom.
Philip: But, Lord, sometimes it feels like the need is so great, and what we have is so small. How can we know that our actions will really make a difference?
Jesus: Philip, you do not need to see the full harvest to know that the seed is valuable. Trust that the Father works in ways you cannot always perceive. Remember my words, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (Matthew 25:40). Every small act done in love carries eternal weight, no matter how invisible it may seem.
Peter: So, Lord, you’re saying we just need to do what we can with what we have, right where we are?
Jesus: Yes, Peter. Be faithful in what is before you, and trust that God will multiply your efforts. A heart that seeks to serve, no matter how small the task, is powerful in the kingdom of heaven.
