Esther 7:5

Jesus: “In Esther 7:5, we find a moment of great revelation and justice in the story of Esther. King Ahasuerus, upon learning that someone has plotted to annihilate the Jewish people, including his queen, Esther, asks, ‘Who is he, and where is he, that durst presume in his heart to do so?’ This question marks a turning point in the narrative, leading to the exposure and downfall of Haman, the king’s advisor who orchestrated the plot.”

Peter: “Lord, what can we learn from the king’s reaction?”

Jesus: “Peter, the king’s response teaches about the importance of seeking justice and protecting the innocent. It shows that those in authority have a responsibility to act righteously and defend those who are vulnerable. Despite his previous decrees, influenced by Haman, the king is open to truth and ready to rectify wrongs when confronted with the reality of the situation.”

John: “Was Esther right in approaching the king, given the risk she faced?”

Jesus: “John, Esther’s courage is commendable and provides a powerful example of advocacy and faith. She steps forward, not knowing the outcome, trusting that her actions, guided by prayer and fasting, could lead to the salvation of her people. Her bravery teaches that sometimes, you must take risks to uphold justice and truth.”

Andrew: “How should we handle situations where we see injustice?”

Jesus: “Andrew, like Esther, approach such situations with wisdom and courage. Seek guidance through prayer, gather support from your community, and use the positions you are in to speak out against injustice. Always rely on God’s wisdom to guide you in when and how to act.”

James, son of Zebedee: “Is it always going to be clear who the ‘Haman’ is in our situations?”

Jesus: “James, discerning the source of injustice can be challenging. It requires wisdom, discernment, and often, patience. Not every situation will be as clear-cut as it was for Esther. Stay vigilant, seek counsel, and be guided by the Holy Spirit in identifying the root of injustice and the best course of action.”

Philip: “Lord, what if those in power do not listen?”

Jesus: “Philip, while you may encounter resistance, do not be discouraged. Continue to stand firm in your convictions and maintain integrity. Remember, your ultimate trust is in God who sees all and is the final judge. Keep doing what is right, and leave the outcomes to Him.”

Bartholomew: “Does this mean our actions can influence the course of an entire community, like Esther’s did?”

Jesus: “Indeed, Bartholomew. Never underestimate the impact of righteous action, even by a single individual. Through God’s power, one person’s courage can bring about significant change. You are called to be such agents of change, influencing your communities for the better.”

Matthew: “It sounds like a heavy responsibility, Lord.”

Jesus: “Matthew, it is a responsibility, but you are not alone in it. Just as I am with you, so too is the Holy Spirit, who will give you strength and wisdom. Your part is to remain faithful and responsive to the call to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.”

Thomas: “How do we prepare ourselves for these moments of action?”

Jesus: “Thomas, prepare by deepening your relationship with God and immersing yourself in Scripture. Build a strong community of faith that supports and holds each other accountable. Cultivate a life of prayer and be sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.”

Simon the Zealot: “Esther’s story is inspiring. It teaches us that no matter our position, we can be instruments of God’s justice.”

Jesus: “Yes, Simon. Let Esther’s example inspire you to be bold and courageous. Trust that God can use you, regardless of your position, to bring about His purposes. Live ready to act, grounded in faith and spurred by love.”
